Patrick is one of Sweden's most well-known sports journalists, known for his quick style, broad sports knowledge and his ability to always offer the unexpected. With a long career in TV4's sports editorial team, he has covered everything from the World Cup and the Olympics to the Swedish championships, often with a personal and entertaining twist.
Patrick Ekwall began his journalism career at the age of 16 at Kvällsposten. In 1993, he was hired by TV4 in Skåne and later became a central profile in the channel's sports broadcasts. He worked as a reporter, host and columnist, and led, among other things, the Football Channel Europa. After 23 years, he left TV4 in 2017. Since then, he has been an Olympic expert for Discovery/Channel 5 and a regular member of SVT's quiz show Muren.
In addition to sports journalism, Ekwall has run his own clothing brand, published several books and podcasts, and participated in a number of entertainment programs. He won Hela kändis-Sverige bakar in 2017. In 2022 he published the book One day Hannah died, alla andra dagar levde hon, about his late wife and life afterwards. Today Patrick is mostly a writer and has published three books in the suspense novel series about Frankie Larsson and Anneli Anckargren.
In 2025 Ekwall debuted in the Swedish national walking football team and won a World Cup bronze medal that same year.
